Let's Make Butter!
Raw Jersey milk is best known for its rich cream, perfect for making butter!
When you purchase a jar of our raw Jersey milk, you will notice a thick layer of cream on top. This is the good stuff! There are so many ways you can use it, but our absolute favorite is turning it into delicious farm-fresh butter!
1. Skim off your cream

It is perfectly fine to combine cream from various jars until you are able to make butter.
*A pint of cream makes approximately one stick of butter.
I have found the easiest way to make butter is using a high-powered blender.
2. Blend Away!

Not there yet!
Keep blending!

Perfect!
Your butter has separated!
3. Strain off buttermilk

A metal sieve is perfect for straining your buttermilk. Be sure to save your buttermilk for pancakes, biscuits, and other goodies!
4. Rinse your butter

Rinse your butter under cold water. Then squeeze your butter, rinse and repeat until your water is clear and is no longer cloudy from buttermilk. It's important to get as much buttermilk out of your butter as possible.
This will help your butter last longer!
5. Measure out your butter and add salt (optional)

*One stick of butter measures 113g.
If you would like to store your butter in sticks, Amazon has silicone molds that are perfect for this. You can also shape your butter using your hands or any other mold you have on hand.
If you would like to add salt, I recommend a 1/4 tsp per 113g of butter. After mixing in your salt, press into your mold!
6. Store your butter

Keep in the fridge or freeze your butter to extend its shelf life. If you choose to freeze your butter, wrap your butter in parchment paper and stick it in a freezer bag.
There you have it! It's really that simple! Enjoy!
